What made you want to start CrossFit?
I had a wedding/vacation last August that I had just had to buy new (okay, bigger) clothes for because nothing in my closet was fitting. I was feeling pretty depressed/annoyed/unhappy with myself when the bootcamp ad popped up on Facebook. I really didn’t know much about CrossFit or what to expect but I knew it was time to do something different because my occasional gym workouts and eating whatever I wanted wasn’t working out too well!
What impact has CrossFit had on your life?
From the moment I walked in to do the bootcamp interview, I could tell this place was different than other gyms/bootcamps/programs I had done in the past. I was surprised at how many folks came over and introduced themselves and instantly made me feel welcomed. I can remember those first bootcamp workouts; I could barely string together 15 sit-ups, but everyone was so encouraging and the coaches took the time to get to know us and our levels to keep us progressing. 9 months later, I’m still amazed by the community here (and how a workout 15 minutes or less can kick your butt!). Before CrossFit, I would look for any excuse to skip the gym. Now, CrossFit is usually the highlight of my day, and I hate when I have to miss. I’m definitely in a better place, both mentally and physically since finding CrossFit!
What is your favorite CrossFit movement?
Wall Balls. Oh wait, you said favorite? I actually really like the weightlifting elements. If you’ve seen me lift, you may want to give me the what not to do award (and a big thanks to all who come up and give me tips!), but I’m slowly improving, and it’s a rush when something finally clicks on my form (like actually making contact with the bar) or I can add a bit more weight than before.
If you could create a WOD, what would it look like?
Rowing, Russian kettlebells, and back squats.
I like puppies.
I eat often.
I do statistics.
I am quiet.
Favorite Pizza Topping?
All the veggies, and sausage
Something you may not know about me?
I’m from PA (go Steelers and Nittany Lions!) and my hidden talent is that I can talk fast.
